We were fortunate enough to witness the voyaging canoe "Hokulea's" return a few months ago to Hawaii.
Thousands of people were on Magic Island to greet her, we are fortunate to live in the Ala Wai Boat Harbor, so our view was undisturbed, front row seats to one of the most amazing achievements in the modern day, circumnavigating the globe with no modern day aids, just the moon, sun winds and stars to guide them.
Oil on Canvas
This painting is of a view that I see every evening from my home, once again its of Magic Island the sun setting and a lone outrigger canoe coming home from practice,
I don't know why it has taken me so long to paint this, its been in my head for years, which reminds me to never take for granted being fortunate enough to live where something this amazing is something quite normal.
